24th Central Pennsylvania Geotechnical Conference

The 24th Central Pennsylvania Geotechnical Conference is issuing a “Call for Papers” focusing on Geotechnical case histories and advances in Geotechnical
Engineering. Of particular interest are topics related to value engineering and
working within the current economic constraints resulting from increased
energy costs and recent financial developments on projects such as:

• Infrastructure
• Dams and levees
• Water treatment
• Storm water management
• Retaining walls
• Temporary excavation support

Deadline for abstract submission is November 14, 2008. Abstracts should have 300 - 500 words.

Geo-Institute Geotechnical Special Publication: The Art of Foundation Engineering Practice

The Geo-Institute is soliciting abstracts for technical papers to be considered for inclusion in the Geotechnical Special Publication (GSP) honoring Clyde N. Baker, Jr., P.E., S.E., Hon.M.ASCE. The GSP will be titled The Art of Foundation Engineering Practice; Mohamad Hussein, J. Brian Anderson, and William Camp, III, Editors. It will be published in 2010 during the Geo-Institute annual meeting.

Technical papers covering all aspects of foundation engineering — research, structural and geotechnical design, construction practices, testing, and performance — will be considered. Papers documenting case histories are particularly welcome.

Deadline for abstract submission is November 30, 2008. Abstracts should have between 300–400 words.

The deadline for the 17th ICSMGE has been extended! U.S. authors now have until March 28, 2008, to submit their abstracts. The 17th ICSMGE will be held October 5-9, 2009, in Alexandria, Egypt.

Abstracts for GeoHunan 2009 are due March 30, 2008. GeoHunan will be August 3-6, 2009, in Hunan, China

Event: The 41st Symposium on Engineering Geology and Geotechnical Engineering, April 9-11, 2008

Preliminary Abstracts Due: February 1, 2008

Topics: "Papers on engineering geology, geotechnical engineering and pavement design and evaluation are invited for presentation at the technical sessions and for publication in the proceedings.... Papers on all aspects of engineering geology and geotechnical engineering are solicited with a special emphasis being concentrated on advances and innovation in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. However, papers on topics such as geotechnical or materials research, technology transfer and other topical areas of geotechnology will also be appropriate."

The 2008 Symposium will be hosted by the University of Idaho and will be held at the Owyhee Plaza Hotel, Boise, Idaho.
